#Socialites, get a load of this! Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates predicts that AI (artificial intelligence) will replace doctors, teachers, and other professionals within the next 10 years. He further believes that humans will no longer be needed “for most things” in the world.

In a recent interview with host and comedian Jimmy Fallon on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show,’ Bill Gates said expertise currently remains “rare,” but with AI advancing, the world will soon no longer rely on “a great doctor” or a “great teacher.” Speaking on skills in the fields of medicine and education, he says, “With AI, over the next decade, that will become free, commonplace — great medical advice, great tutoring.”

Last month, Bill Gates previously elaborated on his vision of a new era, which he dubs “free intelligence.” He made his comments during a conversation with Arthur Brooks. Brooks is a Harvard University professor known for his research on happiness. Gates told the happiness expert, “It’s very profound and even a little bit scary — because it’s happening very quickly, and there is no upper bound.”

Bill Gates Believes AI Will Vastly Change Medical And Educational Fields

Gates claims that rapid advances in AI-powered technologies will make everything readily available and touch nearly every aspect of human life. He says we will see great improvements in medicines and diagnoses and widely available AI tutors and virtual assistants.

Meanwhile, others, like  Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman, believe differently. Suleyman counters that continued technological advancements over the next several years will change what most jobs look like across nearly every industry. Suleyman also says AI advancements will have a “hugely destabilizing” impact on the workforce.

He explained more in his book “The Coming Wave,” which was published in 2023. He wrote, “These tools will only temporarily augment human intelligence. They will make us smarter and more efficient for a time, and will unlock enormous amounts of economic growth, but they are fundamentally labor replacing.”

Last year, Gates wrote about his optimism about the overall benefits of AI provides to humanity. For instance, “breakthrough treatments for deadly diseases, innovative solutions for climate change, and high-quality education for everyone.”

While talking to Jimmy Fallon, Bill Gates reaffirmed his belief about some jobs that AI will likely never replace. He noted that people likely won’t want to see machines in certain fields, like sports — no pun intended. He explained, “There will be some things we reserve for ourselves. But in terms of making things and moving things and growing food, over time those will be basically solved problems.”
