Marvel lit up the internet with its Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal, surprising fans with the return of familiar X-Men legends Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, and more. But one name was noticeably absent… Halle Berry.
With rumors swirling and speculation hitting overdrive online, Berry recently addressed the reports of her return during a quick conversation with Black Girl Nerds at CinemaCon while promoting her new film Crime 101.
When told fans were hoping to see Storm’s name on a chair in the next announcement, she said: “Keep waiting. It’s not going to be there. It’s not going to be there.”
It might be a bit of a blow to fans who’ve been hoping to see Berry back as Storm, especially with so many of her X-Men co-stars lined up to return. Now, she could be lying. Even if she is set to come back she’s not allowed to confirm it.
Some of these actors have already had a toe back in the multiverse. Stewart’s Professor X appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, albeit from a alternate universe. Grammer popped up in The Marvels as Beast, tending to Monica Rambeau after she landed in another reality where her mother is Binary, a version of Captain Marvel.
It’s expected that Avengers: Doomsday will build on those threads, potentially pulling more characters into a multiversal conflict like Wolverine and Deadpool.
The Avengers: Doomsday livestream racked up over 275 million views, becoming the most-watched digital event in Marvel Studios history. The hashtag #AvengersDoomsday trended on X for over seven hours.
With the multiverse wide open and Marvel full of surprises, anything can happen. Do you hope to see Storm’s return in the MCU?
