Scott Porter is the newest Friday Night Lights alum to address the upcoming reboot — but does he have plans to return?

During an exclusive interview on Wednesday, May 28, at a Ginny & Georgia premiere screening, Porter, 45, had a lot to say about the highly-anticipated third season, but Us Weekly will have to wait until the episodes drop to spill the tea. In the meantime, we’re taking a quick trip back to Dillon — with Porter admitting he’s unsure about a reboot return after wrapping up his character Jason Street’s story in the original series.

“For me, Jason won at the end of the series of Friday Night Lights,” Porter noted. “He’s a sports agent. He’s in New York. He’s working in a field that he loves with a family.”

Porter had mixed feelings on returning to the role, adding, “For somebody that suffered a catastrophic injury like him, for somebody who is coming out of a town like Dillon, a lot of them are trying to get out of Dillon and break the cycle and Jason did that almost better than anyone.”

But the actor isn’t ruling anything out.

“I would love to come back — of course — but only if it really fits the story that they are trying to tell,” Porter noted. “I have nothing but trust and love for [executive producer] Peter Berg and [showrunner] Jason Katims and the whole creative team that’s coming back. If they ask then 100 percent but if not, I’m so satisfied with the way Jason’s story ended.”

The sports drama, which aired on NBC from 2006 to 2011, followed a high school football team in a fictional Texas town. Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton lead the cast of FNL, which helped skyrocket several people to fame including Porter, Taylor Kitsch, Zach Gilford, Minka Kelly, Jesse Plemons, Aimee Teegarden, Michael B. Jordan and more.

More than a decade after the series came to an end, it was confirmed that original creators Katims, Berg and Brian Grazer were in the early stages of rebooting the show. The adaptation would follow new characters but numerous OG cast members have revealed whether they have — or haven’t — received a call about returning in some capacity.

Chandler, 59, and Gilford, 43, recently confirmed they weren’t contacted yet while Kelly, 44, admitted she was focused on her current Netflix series Ransom Canyon. Kitsch, 44, has been the only one to confirm he is in talks to reprise his role as fan favorite Tim Riggins, while Jordan, 38, showed support for his possible return as well.

Friday Night Lights stole viewers’ hearts for five seasons on NBC — and many still live by the motto, “Clear eyes, full heart, can’t lose.” The series was inspired by H.G. Bissinger’s nonfiction book, which was later adapted into the 2004 film of the same name. From 2006 to 2011, the show followed the journeys […]

Even if Porter doesn’t reprise his role as Jason, he has plenty to focus on — starting with the newest season of Ginny & Georgia. After a two-year wait, the hit Netflix series is returning for a third season in June and is picking up immediately after Georgia (Brianne Howey) was arrested on her and Paul’s (Porter) wedding day for the murder of fellow Wellsbury resident Cynthia’s (Sabrina Grdevich) husband.

“This season was full of big revelations for Paul and a lot of challenges,” Porter teased about what fans can expect. “I think my favorite part of this entire season was just getting to really push into really difficult [onscreen] stuff with the cast. We just have an incredible cast.”

Porter continued: “I love acting across from Raymond Ablack. I got a lot of time with Joe this season, which was awesome. Of course, Brianne Howey was just the most impeccable lead we could ever have. Each and every single one of them. I don’t think there was one single moment [I didn’t enjoy]. It’s just continuing to build this show with them that makes it so special.”

Ginny & Georgia returns to Netflix on Thursday, June 5.
