A 7-Eleven worker is dead after a brutal workplace attack that has now become the focus of a citywide manhunt in Los Angeles. According to the New York Post, Jessica McLaughlin was left brain-dead after her female manager attacked her at a 7-Eleven location on June 24. The assault reportedly stemmed from a heated argument that escalated into violence around 2 p.m. that afternoon. Witnesses say the manager pulled Jessica’s hair and sat on her chest, cutting off her ability to breathe.
Witnesses Tried to Save Her, But It Was Too Late
Co-workers at the store say they desperately tried to pull the manager off McLaughlin but were allegedly attacked themselves. After the manager fled to the store’s back office, she reportedly tried to delete the surveillance footage, according to a GoFundMe page set up by the family.
Tragically, McLaughlin passed out and was rushed to Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, where she was later declared brain-dead due to oxygen deprivation. “While some coworkers tried to help and stop it, they were attacked too. When she finally got free, she collapsed. She wasn’t breathing,” her family wrote on GoFundMe.
Days later, her loved ones made the heartbreaking decision to remove her from life support.
Police Searching for the Manager — 7-Eleven Releases Statement
As of now, the store manager responsible for the attack has not been located. Authorities are actively searching for her and have asked the public to come forward with any information.
A spokesperson for 7-Eleven released a statement saying:
“Our hearts are with those impacted during this difficult time. The suspect has been terminated, and we continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement in their investigation,.”
The company has not released the manager’s name or any employment details but confirmed that she is no longer working for the franchise.
