Lanterns actor Ulrich Thomsen has finished filming his scenes for the upcoming DCU show.
Lanterns is the forthcoming DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television show that will feature Green Lantern characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Kyle Chandler has been tapped to play Hal, while Aaron Pierre will portray John.
Thomsen, meanwhile, has been cast as the villainous Sinestro in the show. Production on Lanterns began in February 2025.

On Instagram, Thomsen announced that he had finished filming his scenes for Lanterns. He also expressed interest in hopefully getting to play the character again, whether it be in a potential Season 2 or another DCU project.
“Bye for now #sinestro – I’ll keep one side for later. Hope too see you again,” he wrote.
The official synopsis for Lanterns reads, “The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
The cast of Lanterns also includes Kelly Macdonald as a sheriff named Kerry, Garret Dillahunt as a modern cowboy named William Macon, Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Nicole Ari Parker as Bernadette Stewart, Jason Ritter as Billy Macon, Sherman Augustus as John Stewart Sr., and Paul Ben-Victor as Antaan.
The show is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, while the first two episodes are directed by Hawes. Hawes, Mundy, Lindelof, and King all serve as executive producers.
An exact HBO Max premiere date has not yet been announced for Lanterns, though it is known that the show will arrive at some point in 2026. Other upcoming DCU projects include Peacemaker Season 2 (arriving next month), Supergirl (June 26, 2026), and Clayface (September 11, 2026), while James Gunn’s Superman movie is still playing in United States theaters.
