The Pitt Cast Talks ‘Sad’ Tracy Ifeachor’s Exit Before Season 2 (Excl)

The Pitt stars are reacting to news that Tracy Ifeachor won’t be returning as Dr. Heather Collins for the show’s second season.

“It’s very sad when anyone leaves a cast or leaves a show,” Isa Briones, who plays Dr. Trinity Santos, told Us Weekly exclusively at the Variety Power of Young Hollywood Party in Beverly Hills on Thursday, August 7. “I’m really excited to see what else she does. She’s a beautiful human being.”

Supriya Ganesh, who plays Dr. Samira Mohan on the HBO series, also weighed in.

“I was so sad to hear she’s not coming back,” she told Us. “I had such a great experience with her.”

Ganesh, 27, recalled the show’s executive producer John Wells saying that The Pitt is “the reality of the hospital” — especially when it comes to the cast.

“Characters will circle out,” Ganesh explained. “At the end of your senior residency, you usually circle out. Or at the end of your intern year, you might usually circle out and do different rotations. I think it’s just something that we’re prepared for, even though it’s really sad because we’ve built such a family here.”

Ifeachor’s character was a fourth-year resident during The Pitt season 1. Us Weekly confirmed last month that the actress would not be reprising her role after she hinted at a departure via social media.

“What a blessing to be a part of this first and foundational season of #ThePitt on @hbomax,” she shared via Instagram on July 9. “It was an absolute privilege to play Dr. Heather Collins in such a groundbreaking season and piece. Thank you to everyone who has watched & supported Season 1 & shared their stories with me.”

A source told Us Ifeachor “didn’t choose to leave the show” and is not aware of “any doors being closed” regarding a possible return.

She also played coy about reprising her role when talking with Us exclusively in May.

“I’m not a [plot] ruiner. I’m not even going to tell you who is or is not going to come back,” Ifeachor teased at the time. “I’m just going to say I want you to watch season 2 and just enjoy it as much as you’ve watched season 1. Hopefully there’ll be seasons 3 and 4 and 7.”

The Pitt’s lead actor and executive producer, Noah Wyle, who plays Dr. Robby, has also weighed in on Ifeachor’s exit.

“Truthfully, we loved the actress,” Wyle, 54, told Deadline in an article published on July 15. “We enjoyed having her with us very much. She’s gotten really big and we will miss her.”
