Young Thug Explains Why He Lied To 21 Savage About Telling Brother Unfoonk To Take Plea Deal In YSL RICO Trial
During his new interview with Big Bank on his podcast, ‘Perspektives With Bank,’ Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, explained why he told his brother Unfoonk, born Quantavious Grier, to take a plea deal in the YSL RICO case and then later denied telling him that in a jail phone call with 21 Savage.
Before the interview, in all of the recently leaked alleged jail phone calls of Young Thug, he told rapper 21 Savage that he never told his brother to take a plea. The comment caused social media to question the two brothers, specifically Unfoonk, wondering if he went against his brother and copped a plea.
However during his interview, Thug explained that he only lied to 21 Savage in order to keep himself and co-defendants from facing further charges. He shared that they were ordered not to speak to each other while awaiting a verdict and that if they did, more charges would ensue.
So, to keep their noses clean, Thug admitted to Bank that he lied to Savage about telling Unfoonk to take the plea. He also noted that he told Unfoonk to take the plea because he recently got 9 years for violating his probation.

Elsewhere in the interview with Big Bank, Young Thug emotionally addressed his rocky relationship with Gunna. Thug said despite feeling betrayed by his YSL artist and former close friend, he still has love for him.
The rapper said all he really wants is an explanation for why he did what he did in the YSL RICO case. He claimed by Gunna copping his Alford plea, “Signing that paper could’ve given me a life sentence.” Thug said:
“I don’t got my twins. I don’t got my friends, bro. I’m just f**ked up. I’m f**ked up, bro. The n***as who I be with every day, I don’t got them no more, bro. I’m f**ked up, bro. I’m f**ked up, bro. I don’t know what to do. And I ain’t lose no n***a to something tragic or nothing. I lost a n***a to betrayal.
You signing that one piece of paper—Signing your initials on this one piece of paper could get me a life sentence., my n***a, how you like…what? Come on, bro. I get a life sentence ’cause of this paper you signed, bro. Just ’cause you trying to get home fast or you just trying to get to a h*e or you just doing a certain thing, bro.
And you already done betrayed a n***a, before, bro. N***a, you gonna let a piece of paper end all of this sh*t? N***a, we men, we brothers, n***a. Ain’t no n***a in the world making me go against Gunna. No n***a, bro.”
Thug later sent a message to Gunna and said:
“Gunna, you my brother. I love you to death, n***a. Why you ain’t give me an explanation? You know how to get in touch with me, n***a. My daddy put me in your group text. I don’t even want you to have my number. My daddy put us in a group text. I called my manager like, ‘Hey, who the hell number this is?’ He goddamn make some phone call, he come back, ‘That’s Gunna number.’ I tell my daddy, ‘Man, why the f**k would you put me on text with that n***a for, bro? What the f**k you got gong on?’”
In the interview, Thug also talked about how he poured “a lot” of money into his artist and “never made a dollar” from him or ask money of him in return. He also claimed that Gunna is “smart” and “strategic” man who remained quiet after he was release, seemingly to garner the public’s sympathy.
