Christy is a 2025 sports drama film starring Sydney Sweeney as the legendary American boxer Christy Martin. The film, directed by David Michôd, came out in theaters on November 7, 2025. With a lot of buzz about Sweeney’s efforts to portray Martin in the film, fans are now curious about the film’s digital release.
Let’s take a look at Christy’s tentative PVOD and SVOD release date.
When could Christy’s digital release date be scheduled?
Black Bear Productions is the distributor of this Sydney Sweeney starrer within the U.S. Hence, going by past release patterns, the film could tentatively see a digital release sometime around mid-December or January. However, the digital release date also depends on how well the film does at the box office. In the past, Black Bear’s Immaculate starring Sweeney came out on digital less than a month after it’s theatrical release. Further, it released on streaming platforms around 5 months later.
However, another Black Bear production, Sing Sing, saw its theatrical release in August 2024 but came out digitally only in March 2025. Hence, depending on how well Christy does at the box office, it can possibly release on digital platforms anytime between 1 to 6 months from its theatrical release. Additionally, Black Bear’s films come out on various platforms as they do not have an exclusive overall deal with a single platform.
The Christy World Premiere took place on September 5, 2025, at the Toronto International Film Festival. Before its theatrical release on November 7, it also premiered at the Stockholm International Film Festival on November 5. Recently, Sweeney also shared a post on Instagram, talking about how proud she is of the film. She wrote in the caption, “I am so deeply proud of this movie. Proud of the film David made. Proud of the story we told. Proud to represent someone as strong and resilient as Christy Martin. This experience has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”
