EXCLUSIVE: Writer-director Ash Avildsen is nearing production wrap on My New Friend Jim, a dark comedy that has added six to its cast: Charlie Plummer (The Long Walk), Ruby Rose Turner (Descendants: The Rise of Red), Sky Katz (Raven’s Home), Richie Merritt (White Boy Rick), Brandon Severs (Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead), and vocalist Lil Lotus, in his acting debut.
We previously broke news of the project, produced by Avildsen’s Sumerian Pictures, whose cast is led by Rob Lowe and Keith David. Katheryn Winnick and Gina Torres also star.
Shooting in Nevada, the film follows two fathers (Lowe and David) from vastly different worlds who form an unlikely bond while searching for a runaway daughter in Reno. Specifics as to the characters played by the newcomers weren’t disclosed.
