Ghost Rider may soon be joining the Mutant Saga! A rumor suggests that a new solo project for the anti-hero is in development for the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Anyone born outside of the ’90s may not realize just how big a character Ghost Rider is for Marvel. A motorcycle riding, leather jacket sporting skeleton that’s constantly on fire is exactly the character that era of comic fans ate up. In truth, it’s likely due to the complicated film rights of the character that they haven’t debuted in the MCU sooner.
For those unaware, Ghost Rider was so popular in the ’90s that the character managed to be one of the few Marvel characters to get a movie outside of the MCU while the MCU was in full swing. It was only due to the films underperforming that (according to the rumor mill), Sony let the rights lapse back to Marvel to focus solely on Spider-Man.
Is Ghost Rider Coming To The MCU?
Though the latest report from the rumor mill suggests that Ghost Rider may soon return to the silver screen. Hollywood insider DanielRPK reveals that Marvel plans to do a solo project revolving around the Spirit of Vengeance in their upcoming Mutant Saga. While it doesn’t state whether or not this would be a movie or TV show, the character’s popularity leans toward the former.
The rumor mill hasn’t been shy about teasing Ghost Rider in recent years. If reports are to be believed, fans may actually end up seeing the Rider With No Name before the end of the Multiverse Saga. However, given the potentially renewed vigor put into their supernatural corner in the Mutant Saga, it wouldn’t be shocking if they waited to make the character a defining face (or, well, skull) of their franchise’s future.
There is currently no word on an official Ghost Rider production in the MCU. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
