Nate Bargatze‘s The Breadwinner is gearing up for the summer.

Sony announced Monday that director Eric Appel‘s feature is now slated to hit theaters May 29 after having previously been set for release on March 13. Mandy Moore, Colin Jost, Kumail Nanjiani, Will Forte, Zach Cherry, Martin Herlihy and Kate Berlant round out the cast.

The Breadwinner centers on Nate Wilcox (Bargatze), a father of three young daughters. He is left in charge of the brood for an extended stretch when wife Katie (Moore) lands a coveted business deal after an appearance on Shark Tank.

Sony’s family-friendly film will now hit theaters as many students begin their summer breaks. Also set for release on May 29 is Paramount’s Passenger, a horror feature from director André Øvredal that stars Melissa Leo, Lou Llobell and Jacob Scipio.

Appel (Weird: The Al Yankovic Story) helmed The Breadwinner from a script that Bargatze co-wrote with Dan Lagana. Bargatze, Lagana and Jeremy Latcham serve as producers.

Bargatze is one of the world’s top-selling stand-up comedians and makes his feature film debut with The Breadwinner. This marks his first major project since hosting the Emmy Awards ceremony in September.

For The Hollywood Reporter’s cover story on Bargatze that published ahead of the Emmys, TriStar Pictures president Nicole Brown discussed The Breadwinner’s appeal for the Sony label.

“The idea of his first film being so personal and authentic to him and his comedy felt like the perfect foray, and he’d really identified a space,” she said. “He was like, ‘I want to be able to watch a film with my whole family. We can go watch animation now, but there’s nothing with real people in it.’”
