OK, so maybe your favorite film didn’t come home with a little gold man, but you can’t say that the 2026 Oscars red carpet was a disappointment. The dudes were giving “dapper dandy”— with lots of brooches on display — while the ladies looked to feathers, shimmer and dreamy shades of blue and green. From Rose Byrne’s breathtaking florals to Timothée Chalamet and Michael B. Jordan looking like chess pieces in their dueling white and black ensembles, we’ve rounded up our most memorable looks of the night here. We like them! We really like them!

Let’s get into it…

Best post-breakup bombshell: Nicole Kidman

Did she just level up? Nicole Kidman brought jaws to the floor when she stepped out in Chanel. The dress hit all the marks, with decorative feathers, crystals and a peplum bodice.

Most monochromatic: Timothée Chalamet

The Best Actor nominee decided to forgo Marty Supreme orange for the big night in favor of an all-white custom Givenchy suit.

Sleekest suit: Michael B. Jordan

The Sinners actor skipped the traditional tux for a sleek all-black Louis Vuitton suit with a Nehru-style jacket, proving that sometimes the sharpest look on the carpet is the simplest. He added more edge with a chain detail at the waist.

Boldest feathers: Demi Moore

Demi Moore wasn’t going for demure in this feathered Gucci gown. On hand to present, the actor, who was nominated last year for The Substance, didn’t shy away from a standout red carpet moment. The inky feathers with glossy green scales around the waist perfectly captured Moore’s shape.

Best black-and-white: Teyana Taylor

Leave it to Teyana Taylor to make a moment out of an otherwise mundane color palette. The One Battle After Another actor’s Chanel gown featured a sheer, beaded bodice and a feathered skirt. Sensing a trend?

Best ’90s minimalism: Emma Stone

The Bugonia star had fashionistas buggin’ over her shimmering white Louis Vuitton gown, which reportedly took 600 hours to bead. Verdict: Worth it. The backless number is topping the best-dressed list thanks to its simple, body-skimming cut.

Best mullet: Jacob Elordi

It’s a party in the back for the Best Supporting Actor nominee, who sported a scruffy, shorter version of the modern mullet that’s been making the rounds lately. His Bottega Veneta tuxedo sharpened the look.

Most minted: Kate Hudson

Her movie’s called Song Sung Blue, but Best Actress nominee Kate Hudson was feeling green on Oscars night. Accompanied by her mom, Goldie Hawn, Hudson stepped out in a sparkling mint Giorgio Armani Privé number paired with Garatti jewels.

Best sparkle: Wunmi Mosaku

The Sinners actor stunned the Golden Globe carpet with a pregnancy reveal. For the Oscars, it was her green glitter that turned heads. Wunmi Mosaku’s stylist previously told Yahoo that color, comfort and practicality have been key for the actor this award season. This hand-embroidered Louis Vuitton look paired with green flats fits the bill!

Best tribute: Jessie Buckley

Jessie Buckley’s Chanel gown might just be a manifestation. The actor, nominated for Best Actress for Hamnet, wore a pink-and-red look that paid homage to Grace Kelly, who wore a similar silhouette at the 1956 Oscars, where she took home that very award. The debut of her sparkling blonde hair is the cherry on top.

Prettiest in pastel: Felicity Jones

In a sea of dramatic black gowns, Felicity Jones brought sunshine to the red carpet. The Train Dreams actress’s butter-yellow Prada number combined a clean, minimalist bodice with a twinkling tulle skirt. Jones told E! she’d rather be in pajamas, but we have no notes.

Best rebuttal to Timothée Chalamet: Misty Copeland

This ballerina is anything but boring. Misty Copeland’s David Koma look was giving both business and ballet with a tuxedo-style bodice finished with a tutu-tulle detail.

Most unrecognizable: Law Roach

Fresh from spilling deets on his star client Zendaya’s blink-and-you-missed-it wedding, the stylist had red carpet watchers doing double takes with his Oscar night makeover. Law Roach swapped his trademark long locks for a short, wavy crop, wearing a knee-length gold brocade jacket to stand out from the standard tuxedos surrounding him.

Best of both worlds: Ji-young Yoo

The KPop Demon Hunters star paid homage to both old Hollywood and Korean style in a Carolina Herrera dress featuring a baby blue bodice, full navy skirt and oversized black bow tied around the waist. “We had had a conversation about maybe wearing a Korean designer or a Korean-style thing, and this kind of was just a happy accident,” she told E! on the red carpet. “It looks a lot like a hanbok, which is a traditional Korean dress. It just really worked out nicely.”

Best new beard: Chase Stokes

The Outer Banks alum got props for his new facial hair. Per the E! crew, Stokes’s stylist debated putting him in a velvet suit — his garnet-hued number hails from Dunhill — on a hot day, but the beard and berry combo is a winner all around.

Best Total Betty: Alicia Silverstone

A fashion faux pas? As if! Alicia Silverstone, who stars in Bugonia, leaned on her fashion designer pal Christian Siriano for her classic look, which featured a strapless black velvet bodice and a white skirt. Black opera-length gloves completed the vintage-feeling aesthetic, and yes, we too were getting some Batgirl vibes from that sharp, structured neckline.

Best blue steel: Marlee Matlin

Marlee Matlin — 1987’s Best Actress for Children of a Lesser God and star of 2022 Best Picture CODA- — returned to the Academy Awards to prove that sometimes less is more. Matlin eschewed big volume in favor of a chic bob and a sleek Marmar Halim deep-blue number paired with a matching Tyler Ellis clutch. It was simple and fairly conservative in a sea of skin, but still totally stunning.

Best period dress: Shaboozey

The singer looked like a time traveler in his razor-sharp black tailcoat with a crisp white bow tie and wide-leg trousers. The custom Campillo look got an extra wink of personality from a sparkling brooch, pearl earrings and two-tone shoes.

Best dressed newbie: Chase Infiniti

The One Battle After Another star looked like a seasoned pro on her first-ever Oscars red carpet, wearing a custom Louis Vuitton dress with dramatic ruffles. “I love a little lilac,” she told E! — and clearly, a bit of drama.

Best botanical: Rose Byrne

Best Actress nominee Rose Byrne arrived in her best botanicals, amping up a beautiful black Christian Dior gown with textured floral details. A bold red lip added extra star power for the If I Had Legs I’d Kick You star.

Best in red: Renate Reinsve

Simple and sexy was the name of the game for the Sentimental Value star, a nominee for Best Actress. Reinsve went minimalist and monochromatic in a red Louis Vuitton dress made from a single piece of fabric, paired with red strappy heels, a red lip and a lot of leg!

Most bridal: Elle Fanning

The Best Supporting Actress nominee’s custom Givenchy white ballgown looked ready for a church. But for Elle Fanning, it had a deeper meaning. Crystals that decorated the bodice and the tulle skirt were arranged to mimic wisteria trellises that Fanning said bloomed around her childhood home. An archival Cartier necklace sealed the look.

In typical Spike Lee fashion, the filmmaker’s accessories were the best part of his look. To accompany white pants and a beige plaid blazer, Lee wore a purple fedora, white glasses, sneakers and a flashy metallic shoulder bag. Fun fact: Lee’s Off-White x Air Jordan collab shoes (released as a women’s style in 2020) were a nod to the late designer Virgil Abloh.
