Singer D4vd, 21, has officially been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. As the singer remains in jail without bail, his attorneys slam the LAPD and LA County District Attorney’s Office for arresting their client without an indictment.

As we previously shared, Rivas Hernandez’s body was found in the trunk of an abandoned Tesla sitting in a Hollywood impound lot last September. The car was first sitting in the Hollywood Hills for several days. It was then towed to an impound lot on September 5 due to several parking tickets.
After a few days at Hollywood Tow, a worker noticed a foul smell. The worker ultimately made the discovery of the teen’s dismembered and decomposing body. The teen was discovered on September 8, 2025 — a day after what would have been her 15th birthday.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, the girl was wearing black leggings, a tube top, a yellow metal chain bracelet in the shape of a “W,” plus metal stud earrings. Authorities also said she had a tattoo on her right index finger with the letters, “Shhh…” D4vd has the same tatt on his right index finger.
Before the discovery of the teen’s body, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said she was reported missing from Lake Elsinore. Authorities said she was last seen on April 5, 2024. The teen’s mother also claimed her daughter had a boyfriend named David. D4vd’s real name is David Anthony Burke.

Singer D4vd Officially Arrested In Celeste Rivas Hernandez Murder Case, Held Without Bail
Following the discovery of the teen’s body, D4vd, who was in the middle of his nationwide ‘Withered World Tour,’ canceled the rest of the dates, and began “fully cooperating” with LAPD in their investigation. As the investigation ramped up, the “Romantic Homicide” singer hired Harvey Weinstein’s criminal defense attorney in October 2025.
By November 2025, investigators began looking at the singer as a possible suspect in Rivas Hernandez’s murder. Later that month, reports broke claiming a medical examiner may rule her death undetermined. The cause was due to her dismembered body being “partially frozen” and “decomposing.”
Seven months after Rivas Hernandez’s body was found, the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division has arrested D4vd on suspicion of murder. Around 5 p.m. on Thursday (April 16), authorities apprehended D4vd. He was at the Hollywood Hills home where he’s been staying since ending his U.S. tour. According to footage obtained by TMZ, officers on the scene were heavily armed with guns, tactical helmets, and protective gear.
Singer D4vd’s Attorneys Slam LAPD & LA DA After Arrest In Celeste Rivas Hernandez Murder Case
D4vd is currently being held without bail. On Monday (April 20), the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The L.A. County District Attorney told TMZ:
“Our office is aware of the arrest of David Anthony Burke by the Los Angeles Police Department. The case is expected to be presented to the Major Crimes Division, at which point prosecutors will review the facts and evidence to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to file charges. At this time, additional information is not available. We will share an update on Monday once a filing decision has been made.”
Furthermore, D4vd’s arrest arrives after a grand jury heard testimony from multiple witnesses in his camp. That included his day-to-day manager, Robert Morgenroth, and his close friend, streamer Neo Langston.
While responding to D4vd’s arrest, his attorneys, Blair Berk, Marily Bednarski, and Regina Peter, slammed the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and LA District Attorney’s Office:
“Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death. There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed. David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”
