Chanel Beads, the zonked, collage-like project of NYC musician Shane Lavers, will release the follow-up to 2024’s Your Day Will Come on June 26 via Jagjaguwar — a 14-song album with the exact title.
It features contributions from vocalist Maya McGrory and violinist Zachary Paul — his live bandmates who played on YDWC — as well as Anastasia Coope, Bella Litsa, Isaac Eiger of Threshold, more eaze, and Tchad Cousins of urika’s bedroom. The tracklist includes last year’s “The Coward Forgets His Nightmare” and latest single “Song for the Messenger,” both of which lean into the album’s theme of exploring “the coexistence of nihilism and love.”

“This song is laughing at me,” Lavers says. “Like looking over your shoulder and walking off a cliff. The video is about no fear.” True to his description, its visual companion is bathed in grainy blues and encompasses endless motion, starring Olivia Forte, Maggie Nixon, Elsa Kubik, and Voyeur’s Sharleen Chidiac (who runs the East Williamsburg dance studio Pageant and serves as the video’s movement director).
