Armour of God IV: Ultimatum gets important release updates
Major new details have emerged about Armour of God IV: Ultimatum, including its production timeline and expected release window. According to Variety, the latest chapter in Jackie Chan’s long-running action franchise is scheduled to begin filming in July and is currently targeting a worldwide release in the second quarter of 2027.
The upcoming sequel will be filmed across Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. This makes it Chan’s first production set in the Central Asian region. Robert Kun is directing the project for Salem Entertainment, while producers Esmond Ren and Igor Tsay are also attached. Financial support for the film comes from Alem Fund, an Astana International Financial Centre-backed initiative focused on supporting internationally recognized film and media projects connected to Kazakhstan.
Armour of God IV: Ultimatum continues the story of Chan’s longtime adventurer character Asian Hawk. According to the official synopsis, the character is pulled back into action after a massive international search begins for an ancient artifact known as the Tumar, which carries a reward exceeding $20 million.
Although Variety recently confirmed the latest production details, reports about the film shooting in Kazakhstan had already surfaced in late 2025. Kazinform previously reported that Kazakhstan was selected as one of the primary filming locations for the fourth film. Separately, City On Fire reported that Chan would once again headline the series. They also reported that Kun had been chosen to direct the new installment.
The Armour of God franchise first launched with Armour of God in 1986. This was followed by Armour of God II: Operation Condor in 1991. The third installment, Chinese Zodiac, was released in 2012.
