An animated superhero series’ first season will no longer be on Netflix starting next month. Based on the iconic and beloved comic book characters, the series centers on four mutated brothers as they battle dangerous, powerful villains in New York City.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 1 is leaving Netflix

Netflix subscribers won’t be able to stream Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 1 on the platform from Monday, June 1, 2026 (via What’s on Netflix).

The characters are based on comic books by veterans Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Meanwhile, Ant Ward and Andy Suriano developed the series for Nickelodeon. Rather than serving as a continuation or spin-off of previous adaptations, the series was a modern re-imagining of the franchise.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles centers on the adventures of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. Unlike in recent adaptations, the turtles use their mystical powers to defeat their enemies, adding fantasy elements to the story. Alongside their friend April O’Neil and under the guidance of their master Splinter, the four brothers protect New York City from major threats.

The show’s voice cast features Ben Schwartz as Leonardo, Brandon Mychal Smith as Michelangelo, Omar Benson Miller as Raphael, Josh Brener as Donatello, Eric Bauza as Splinter, and Kat Graham as April O’Neil.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 1 premiered on Nickelodeon on July 20, 2018. It consisted of 26 episodes, all of which are currently on Netflix. Season 2 later premiered on Nicktoons on October 12, 2019. The series fared well with the audiences and currently holds an 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

While the series never received a third season, it was followed by a feature film, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie. It premiered worldwide on Netflix on August 5, 2022. Meanwhile, it had a theatrical release in China.
