Jonathan Anderson’s debut for Dior officially kicked off the buzzy resort season, with powerhouse fashion houses including Gucci and Louis Vuitton also heading stateside to unveil their highly anticipated cruise collections.
For Dior, Anderson staged his debut in the celebrity capital of the world, Los Angeles, and the presentation mirrored the glamour and cinematic energy of the city itself. Front-row appearances included Tracee Ellis Ross, LaKeith Stanfield, Taylor Russell, and more. With a vintage car positioned at the center of the runway and street lamps scattered throughout the set design, the show felt distinctly Hollywood. Anderson moved effortlessly from drop-waist chiffon gowns to his now-signature structured blazers, while glittering accessories and single tassel earrings added an extra layer of drama and old-school glamour throughout the collection.
At Gucci, Demna transformed the heart of New York City with a cruise show staged in Times Square. The high-octane setting echoed the provocative energy of Tom Ford’s era at Gucci, drawing parallels to Demna’s own debut. Seated in the front row were icons including Iman, Mariah Carey, Rico Nasty, and more. The collection challenged traditional resortwear expectations, featuring floor-length furs, sharply tailored suiting, patent leather, and a moody palette of blacks and greys punctuated with pops of red and brown.
The most intimate presentation of the trio came from Louis Vuitton, which hosted its cruise show at The Frick Collection. The museum also announced the start of a three-year partnership with the house. Designed with the traveler in mind, the collection featured short-brim hats and nods to movement and exploration throughout. References to Keith Haring were woven into the show as well, from Vuitton boxing gloves to bags adorned with Haring’s signature figures. Front row attendees included Zendaya, Chase Infiniti, Misty Copeland, and more.
