Lamor Whitehead has been convicted and sentenced to a nine-year prison term for his involvement in a series of fraudulent schemes, according to @nydailynews.
According to the report, Judge Lorna Schofield of the Manhattan federal court announced the sentence following testimonies from victims who suffered financial losses due to Lamor Whitehead’s scams. During the hearing, Whitehead mentioned various city and state officials he claimed to have interacted with, such as the mayor, state Attorney General Letitia James, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, and the late Ken Thompson, among others, though none were present at the proceedings.

As we previously reported, In March, a jury convicted the pastor from Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Canarsie on five charges, including wire fraud, attempted extortion, making false statements to the FBI, and other offenses linked to three distinct scams through which he defrauded numerous individuals of tens of thousands of dollars.
During the trial, prosecutors argued that he exploited the trust of his devoted church attendees in the close-knit Brooklyn neighborhood and leveraged his connections to the mayor to pursue lucrative ventures.

“Lamor Whitehead is a con man who stole millions of dollars in a string of financial frauds and even stole from one of his own parishioners. He lied to federal agents, and again to the Court at his trial. Today’s sentence puts an end to Whitehead’s various schemes and reflects this Office’s commitment to bring accountability to those who abuse their positions of trust,” Manhattan U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement.
