Jamie xx has reunited with Oliver Sim and Romy, his beloved bandmates from The xx, for a new single, “Waited All Night.”

The track marks the first time the three have joined forces on an original record since 2017 and arrives just days before the release of In Waves, Jamie xx’s long-awaited sophomore album.

“Thank you to my two best friends and musical siblings, Oliver and Romy,” Jamie xx said in a press release. “It’s wonderful to have the gang back together, working in new ways, working out new lives, I wouldn’t be here without them.”

“Waited All Night” is flush with The xx’s distinctive, goosebump-inducing vocals, which create a soft sense of warmth and emotion. Paired with crisp percussion, potent bass and a heavy dose of groove, the track showcases the trio’s palpable chemistry through a fresh lens.

In June, the bandmates shared an emotional reunion during the debut performance of “Waited All Night” live at Glastonbury Festival.

“We’ve loved collaborating on our recent solo projects but it’s been a while since the three of us came together on one track,” Romy and Sim added. “We’re so pleased that this was the place we met up again. Proud to play a small part in this long awaited, brilliant album. We’re your biggest fans Jamie!”

Jamie xx’s highly anticipated 12-track album, In Waves, drops tomorrow, September 20th. A deluxe vinyl LP will be available featuring three previous singles as well as two exclusive new tracks, “Do Something” and “F U” (with Erykah Badu).
