‘Rhythm & Flow’ contestants Dre TL, Tia P, Detroit Diamond, and Yoshi Vintage spoke with BOSSIP about receiving celebrity praise and motivation during the competition from hosts, coaches and even behind-the-scenes producers!

If you’ve already been watching the series and witnessed the battles — you know they were one of the toughest challenges for the contestants. Dre opened up to BOSSIP about the moment Latto put a battery in his back following his battle with K’Alley.

“I don’t know if this was on or off camera, but she basically was like, ‘Don’t mess up,’ DreTL told BOSSIP. ” It felt like she was saying, ‘I like you, you’re one of my favorites.’ Well I mean she did say that. Me and K’Alley we battled each other and I don’t want to speak for her, but I think we were her favorite two artists that were on the show. So after K’Alley got eliminated, she was like, ‘You done eliminated K’Alley, who I really liked so don’t don’t let it be in vain.’ So after that I was like, ‘OK, I’m going to lock in.’”

Inglewood Rapper Tia P Praised Grammy Award Winning Songwriter Theron Thomas For His Coaching On Rhythm + Flow

Inglewood rapper Tia P spoke about the coaching she and the other contestants received from Grammy award winner Theron Thomas.

“I would have to say my best advice was from T-Ron,” Tia P recalled. “Theron was basically dropping gems pretty much from Day 1. I know for sure there were just hours during the the battle where — because it’s a lot of hurry up and wait

“He opened up with us about the game in general,” Detroit Diamond added.

“Just as a whole, as an artist, to take beyond this show he was definitely dropping jewels,” Tia P continued. “And then in the moments of what we were doing, he was there just giving us encouragement, advice and just real stuff. Because some people just want to be like, ‘Well that’s great!’ But he was dropping real knowledge and that’s the thing that we can take with us in the competition and our career as a whole.”

Detroit Diamond was on top of her game throughout the competition and like DreTL she got huge props from the judges, so we weren’t too surprised when she chose to highlight a special moment with DJ Khaled.

“I feel like Khaled, he had a moment where, when we did the singles, when Glorilla was our guest judge, I feel like I know I’m hard, but when he lit the lighter and he came on stage and was like, ‘I gotta get a picture with you…’” Diamond reminisced. “I was like ‘this is DJ Khaled right now and he like stamping me!’ That moment was real, real big for me.”

Detroit Diamond also cited a lesser known figure on set for helping motivate her — one of the show’s sound producers.

“Destiny, she was one of my sound producers, so she was helping me with the music behind the scenes,” Detroit Diamond recalled. “From audition day, I didn’t really know her from a can of paint right? But when I tell you I feel like it was so like welcoming and before I went out, I was a little nervous and she just was like, ‘Relax Mama.’ She was like, ‘Go get it, you got this!’ Soon as she said that I just was like ohh yeah, ‘I’m home now.’ So shout out to Destiny.”

Eminem Called Rhythm + Flow Rapper Yoshi Vintage ‘The Full Package’

Similarly, Yoshi Vintage won high praise from some of the hardest to impress celebs on set.

“I gotta go with Eminem — he said that I was the full package!” Yoshi Vintage told BOSSIP. “You know, what else can I do?”

The hearing impaired performer revealed getting some key pointers from another celebrity with a similar disability as well.

“I think the best advice I got was from Remy [Ma] though because she struggles from a hearing disability also,” Yoshi Vintage continued. “She said enunciate. Because we have a hearing problem I’ve never heard words properly so I can’t say a lot of words properly, so just her just saying like, ‘Yoshi you be saying some sh–.’”

Have you watched the Rhythm + Flow finale yet? Both full seasons of Rhythm + Flow are streaming now on Netflix.
