On January 14, the social media influencer took to Instagram Stories to reveal their separation. She acknowledged how fans had been invested in their love story, given their updates on social media during the early stages of their relationship. She explained her decision to share the news, saying:
“I wanted to give you an update… especially since we’ve both been hounded with questions. And that’s totally understandable. Luke and I have decided to separate.”
Smith noted that she would not be sharing further details about the breakup, emphasizing the importance of privacy. However, she shared that the decision was in their best interests. “We both have to do what’s best for us, as well as Indigo, while he’s still as young as he is,” she said.

Nearly a year later, they became engaged during a romantic proposal at Magnolia Farm in Eagleville, Tennessee.
