Jonathan Majors doesn’t want to close the door on his time as Kang the Conqueror as he wants to return if Marvel is willing to reopen it.

In a recent interview with USA Today, Majors made it clear that he would gladly return to the MCU if given the chance. He said:

“Disney, Marvel Studios, I love them. Tom Hiddleston, loved working with that guy. Loved working with Paul Rudd. Loved working with Gugu Mbatha-Raw. I love the industry so much, and now I’m in the place where I can feel the love from them and actually express my love for them.”

His time as Kang was short-lived but significant. He played multiple variants of the character in Loki and took center stage as the villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, Marvel dropped him in December 2023 after his conviction for second-degree harassment and misdemeanor assault of his ex, Grace Jabbari.

The case, which stemmed from a March 2023 arrest, resulted in a court order for Majors to complete a 52-week domestic violence intervention program.

Before his legal troubles, Kang was set to be the MCU’s next major threat, leading into Avengers: Kang Dynasty. But after his conviction, Marvel rebranded the film as Avengers: Doomsday, with Robert Downey Jr. now set to return as Doctor Doom.

Majors reiterated his interest in another interview with Entertainment Weekly, acknowledging that a return wouldn’t be the same as before. “The version of me that would come back would be different.”

With Marvel moving away from Kang and shifting focus toward Doom, Majors’ return as Kang seems very unlikely. Even if they do include Kang in some way to wrap up his story, the character will most likely be recast.
