In April 29th’s episode of The Rookie, Seth Ridley came back with a bang, which ultimately wrapped up his storyline for the show. The pathological liar that was last seen in episode 10, “Chaos Agent,” returned in the latest episode. Now, it seems he may be out of the show for good.
When it comes to how his storyline wrapped up and what might be next for Seth, Patrick Keleher breaks it down for SpoilerTV.
Seth and Tamara immediately hit it off when they first met—and showed up engaged in “The Return.” It did not last long, though, as she breaks it off the minute Seth confesses his lies.
“Gosh, I think they’re pretty young and naive,” says Keleher when asked about the speed of their relationship. “They really do like each other, though. They really do like each other, and just as easily as they broke up, they got [engaged], you know? They’re just two great, young, spirited characters. In my imagination, they definitely work things out. They’re a great team.”
Fans debate if Seth losing a girlfriend, losing a limb, and potentially losing a dream job is balanced karma for his sins this season. But the even bigger question is: What does this mean for Seth?
“I think it’s a pretty intense wakeup call,” explains Keleher. “A lot of people will have near death experiences. So, that kind of puts you down into the rabbit hole of, ‘What have I done? Am I satisfied? If I go, I kick the bucket, am I satisfied with what I did?’ So it’s a huge wakeup call for Seth. And I’m really excited to see, if Seth really comes back, what it is he’s going to do with that experience and a prosthetic leg and how he’s going to continue his pursuit of helping people.”
So, is there a chance Seth Ridley will come back in season 8?
“I have no idea,” Keleher candidly admits to SpoilerTV. “I’d love to know too.”
He’s just as much in the dark as the audience is. If Seth returns to be a better person or enact revenge, we’ll all have to wait and see.
“It’d be fun to have a little spinoff on Seth,” teases Keleher. “I think I’ll just throw that into the universe.”
