While at Comic-Con as Paramount unveiled the official trailer and details for the upcoming scripted audio drama Star Trek: Khan. The series will debut on September 8, Star Trek Day, with new episodes dropping every Monday.

The podcast dives deep into one of the franchise’s most iconic villains, Khan Noonien Singh, chronicling his downfall on the unforgiving world of Ceti Alpha V. The story fills in the untold years between Star Trek: The Original Series episode “Space Seed” and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, exploring how a man who saw himself as a savior became the vengeful force fans remember.

The big news from Hall H was the return of two beloved franchise veterans. George Takei reprises his role as Captain Hikaru Sulu, while Tim Russ returns as Ensign Tuvok from Star Trek: Voyager.

They join Naveen Andrews, who stars as Khan Noonien Singh, and Wrenn Schmidt as Lieutenant Marla McGivers. Additional casting includes Sonya Cassidy as Dr. Rosalind Lear, Olli Haaskivi as Delmonda, Maury Sterling as Ivan, Mercy Malick as Ursula, and Zuri Washington as Madot.

The series is written by Kirsten Beyer and David Mack, based on a story by none other than Wrath of Khan writer and director Nicholas Meyer. The project is helmed by director Fred Greenhalgh and produced by CBS’s Eye Podcast Productions in collaboration with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment.

Executive producers include Alex Kurtzman, Aaron Baiers, Kirsten Beyer, Molly Barton, Carly Migliori, Fred Greenhalgh, Trevor Roth, and Rod Roddenberry, with Robyn Johnson serving as co-executive producer. Realm is handling production duties.

Star Trek: Khan seems like it’ll be a thrilling, character-driven exploration of betrayal, survival, and vengeance in the harsh isolation of Ceti Alpha V.
