Another ICE-related shooting has been reported in Minnesota, where an unidentified man was shot in the leg by a federal agent on Wednesday evening, according to KARE 11.

The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. near North Lyndale Avenue and 25th Avenue. In a statement, the City of Minneapolis confirmed the man was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. “We understand there is anger. We ask the public to remain calm. The City of Minneapolis again demands that ICE leave the city and state immediately. We stand by our immigrant and refugee communities – know that you have our full support,” the statement read in a social media post.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, the shooting occurred during a traffic stop conducted by federal law enforcement. Officials said the man allegedly fled the scene in his vehicle before crashing and attempting to run away. “The subject and law enforcement were in a struggle on the ground. Two subjects came out of a nearby apartment and also attacked the law enforcement officer with a snow shovel and broom handle,” officials explained.

The officer, who was reportedly attacked during the encounter, fired multiple shots — striking the man in the leg. Both the man and the officer were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

City Leaders Condemn ICE Presence in Minneapolis

The City of Minneapolis reiterated its stance against federal immigration enforcement in the area, calling for ICE to leave both the city and state immediately. Officials emphasized their continued support for immigrant and refugee communities following the latest use of force by federal agents.

This shooting occurred just one week after the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good, who was killed by an ICE agent during a separate enforcement action in Minneapolis, an incident that sparked major protests and community outrage.

Activists and city leaders are demanding a federal review of ICE’s operations in Minnesota, citing repeated use of excessive force and lack of transparency.

Federal Authorities and Local Officials Respond

Officials with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and ICE confirmed that the shooting remains under investigation, though details about the man’s identity have not been released.

Federal law enforcement claimed the officer involved acted in self-defense after being physically assaulted during the arrest. The City of Minneapolis Police Department is assisting with the ongoing investigation but said the incident falls under federal jurisdiction.

Community leaders have called for increased oversight, citing growing concerns over public safety and immigration enforcement tactics. The city also noted that counseling and support services are being offered to affected families in the area.

Growing Concerns Over ICE Enforcement Tactics

The shooting adds to an already tense atmosphere between federal immigration authorities and local residents in Minnesota. The fatal Renee Good shooting earlier this month has led to heightened tensions and public demonstrations demanding accountability.

Critics argue that ICE’s continued enforcement actions in Minneapolis directly contradict local officials’ calls for restraint and community-based policing. Proponents of federal action maintain that agents are operating within their rights to enforce immigration law and respond to physical threats during arrests. Local authorities have questioned the federal response and transparency in that earlier shooting.
