Florida GOP candidate James Fishback is taking heat after floating a so-called “sin tax” on OnlyFans creators, and adult star and Navy veteran Addyson James is not mincing words about what she thinks of the idea. In an exclusive interview with The Blast, Addyson James ripped into Fishback’s proposal to slap a 50% tax on creators, calling it performative and punitive, especially for women who are already paying taxes and trying to stay afloat in an unstable industry.

Addyson James Drags Florida’s ‘Sin Tax’ Pitch

Asked for her immediate reaction to Fishback’s proposal, James went straight for the jugular. “Oh, James Fishback? What a clown show,” she told The Blast.

She accused the candidate of turning moral outrage into a campaign stunt, saying he “thinks slapping a 50% ‘sin tax’ on OnlyFans creators will ‘deter degeneracy’ and save us poor, exploited women from being ‘forced’ into it. Newsflash, buddy, nobody’s twisting my arm. I chose this gig at 44 with eyes wide open, and we already pay our share of taxes like everyone else.”

And she argued the logistics don’t even add up in Florida. “It’s laughable moral grandstanding dressed as policy, especially since Florida bans income taxes, so good luck making that constitutional without a magic wand,” she said.

James Says Florida’s OnlyFans ‘Sin Tax’ Talk Feels Like ‘Punishment’

James said Fishback’s framing hit her personally, not because she’s sensitive to criticism, but because she’s lived the financial realities he’s glossing over. “Personally, Fishback’s comments hit like a slap in the face, insulting and utterly clueless,” she told The Blast, adding that his claim that creators are “forced” into the work “boils my blood.”

She also warned that a tax like that would’ve wrecked her during her hardest moments. “A 50% ‘sin tax’ on top of the taxes we already pay? That’s not deterrence. It’s punishment for independent women hustling legally, and it would’ve sunk me deeper during my rock bottom when earnings were already feast-or-famine,” she continued.

James didn’t hold back on what she thinks is really happening. “What a tone-deaf joke from a hedge fund guy who’s probably never missed a meal,” she said.

Addyson James Says Florida ‘Sin Tax’ Talk Exposes How Little Lawmakers Understand Adult Creators

James said lawmakers like Fishback don’t understand what most adult creators’ lives actually look like, and she thinks that ignorance is intentional. “Lawmakers like that clown Fishback seem to think we’re all helpless victims… living in constant depravity or luxury yachts, couldn’t be more wrong,” she said.

In her view, creators are far from the caricatures lawmakers push, telling The Blast, “Most adult creators are everyday people: vets like me, former nurses, foster kids, any many of have graduated from college, we are smart.”

She also argued that politicians ignore how precarious the job can be. “They misunderstand the grind, unpredictable income under $10K a year for many, no benefits, platform cuts devouring earnings, all while we pay our taxes like clockwork,” she said.

James Says Florida’s ‘Sin Tax’ Push Isn’t About Money

James said the backlash isn’t just about money, but, instead, it’s about control, particularly when it comes to women making income through sexuality. “Absolutely, adult creators, especially women, are being singled out in ways that reek of hypocrisy and outdated puritanism,” she said, pointing out that industries like alcohol and gambling are widely marketed and normalized while adult creators get branded as moral hazards.

She also noted what she sees as a glaring political contradiction. “What grinds my gears is the double standard: how many politicians get caught with escorts or porn scandals, yet they lecture us?” she said. “We’re everyday survivors… paying taxes, hustling legally, yet we’re the ‘degenerates’ needing ‘deterrence.’”

Addyson James Predicts Florida’s ‘Sin Tax’ Would Spark Lawsuits

James warned that if a proposal like this ever passed, it wouldn’t stay contained to Florida. “If Florida passes this absurd 50% ‘sin tax’ on OnlyFans creators, it would send shockwaves across the nation, setting a dangerous precedent for other states to follow suit,” she said, predicting creators would either leave or go underground, adding, “This would significantly reduce Florida’s tax base and push talented individuals underground or out of the industry altogether.”

She also expects legal chaos. “Nationwide, expect lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of this tax, considering Florida’s ban on income taxes,” she said, adding that it could also trigger a “chilling effect on free expression.”

As of now, Fishback’s “sin tax” remains just a proposal.
