Tiger Woods may want to consider retirement sooner rather than later, a former professional golfer says.
Brandel Chamblee, who has one PGA Tour victory under his belt, weighed in on Woods’ recent DUI drama and why he believes it is a sign for a new chapter.
Tiger Woods began trending on March 27 after he flipped over his car near his home in Jupiter Island. He was taken into custody for driving under the influence, with sources blaming his prescription pain medication.
Tiger Woods Advised To Prioritize His Well-Being Instead Of Golf

Chamblee, a retired professional golfer, joined the ongoing conversation about Woods’ DUI incident in a new interview. He argued that the accident could be a sign for Woods to put down his golf clubs for his own good, instead of chasing more success.
“Well, why would he need to play golf anymore? You know, I think he should probably ask himself that. Consider not playing golf anymore,” Chamblee said on the Golf Channel. He reflected on Woods’ illustrious career, noting the glory broke his body more than once.
“It’s clear that Tiger Woods has a history of pushing himself to his physical limits beyond his physical limits,” Chamblee said. He claimed there were stories of Woods not needing a lot of sleep, which was detrimental to his overall well-being, as the body heals while asleep.
The World Golf Hall Of Fame Inductee Warned To Stop Overtasking His Injured Body

Chamblee claimed Woods woke up early, around two to four in the morning, grinding at the gym. He claimed the hours Woods spent trying to overcome his physical limits and get his body in shape had the opposite effect “on what is already a fractured and fragile body.”
The retired golfer stressed that Woods was pushing himself “to the degree that he keeps hurting himself, injuring himself, and requiring surgeries.” On that note, Chamblee advised Woods to prioritize his well-being because he could no longer play at a competitive level on the PGA Tour.
“His body just won’t let him do what his talents have previously let him do,” Chamblee declared. He implored Woods to quit, stressing that “he’s done his work in the game of golf” and his attempts in the Champions Tour “will add nothing to his legacy.”
The Athlete’s Prescription Pain Medications May Be A Double-Edged Sword

Chamblee also referenced the claims of Woods being under the influence of pain medication when the crash happened. He explained that the multiple injuries and surgeries Woods had endured came along with prescribed pain medication.
Chamblee noted that these drugs tend to be a double-edged sword because one could easily “connect the dots to the pain mediation and the addiction to the pain medication.” He added that he wasn’t speculating about what Woods had in his system during the accident.
Nonetheless, Chamblee hoped Woods would see the DUI drama as a wake-up call to get “the care and the help that he needs.” He hoped the athlete could escape the toxic cycle of pushing his body to the limit, injuring himself, and relying on pain medications to cope.
The Presidential Medal Of Freedom Honoree Suffered Another Injury

Earlier this month, The Blast reported that Woods had suffered another injury. He shared the news in a statement on X, revealing that he had been practicing at home when he felt “a sharp pain” in his left Achilles.
After getting the pain checked out, doctors discovered that Woods had ruptured his left Achilles tendon and underwent a minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair. He confirmed that the operation was a success and that he had returned home to begin his recovery journey.
Woods previously needed seven months to recover from an ankle injury in April 2023 but returned in December to participate in the Hero World Challenge. The event marked a big moment for Woods as it was his first time competing in four years after his last appearance in 2019.
Tiger Woods’ Girlfriend Allegedly Upset About The DUI Incident

Following Woods’ March 27 arrest for flipping over his car in a high-speed crash, a source told Daily Mail that the athlete got into trouble with his lover. Woods has been dating Vanessa Trump since March 2025 and allegedly got an earful from his partner.
A source close to the couple claimed Vanessa was “not happy at all” about Woods’ DUI drama. “She’s both disappointed and a little bit pi-sed, if I’m being honest. It’s a definite red flag,” they claimed, noting she dropped some strict rules.
“She told him that he’s going to get this sorted out, and that she’s going to require that. He has to get things under control, or she’s not going to stick around,” the source alleged. Days before the crash, Woods and Vanessa had made waves for their blossoming romance after sharing a kiss at the TGL Finals.
