Lizzo’s attorney’s are fighting back against the singer’s former wardrobe stylist who accused Lizzo of forcing employees to work in a “racist and sexualized” environment.
As we previously reported, Asha Daniels filed a lawsuit back in September in a Los Angeles court, but now the singer’s legal team has responded and is requesting for the lawsuit to be dismissed. According to @people, Lizzo’s lawyers referred to Daniels’ lawsuit as “meritless and salacious.” In the documents obtained by the news outlet, her team also claimed that Daniels “failed to perform the work that she was assigned and, eventually, just played hooky and refused to show up for work.” Overall, Daniels ended up losing her job after “abandoning her post” on the day of Lizzo’s concert in Paris, France.

Attorney Ron Zambrano, who is representing Daniels has already responded back to Lizzo’s team filing this new motion. Zambrano claims that this move was “another Hail Mary by Lizzo’s team to try to shift blame to the victims, as she has done to the three other plaintiffs who have sued her for similar allegations of harassment, disability discrimination and retaliatory termination.” He continued: “Lizzo and her lawyers can continue trying to rationalize her illegal and wretched conduct but we remain committed to seeking justice for our clients, and look forward to our day in court where Lizzo can explain her behavior in a public forum.”
Lizzo also has to deal with another lawsuit that was filed by her former backup dancers. As we previously reported, 18 members of Lizzo’s touring company wrote declarations stating that she provides a very positive work environment and was never forced to attend sex shows. Crystal Williams, Noelle Rodriguez and Arianna Davis accused Lizzo of discrimination and creating a ‘hostile work environment,’ but the singer has already denied those allegations and has requested for a judge to toss the lawsuit out.
A spokesperson on Lizzo’s team shed light on Lizzo’s request and shared, “This is the first step of a legal process in which Lizzo and her team will demonstrate that they have always practiced what they’ve preached – whether it comes to promoting body positivity, leading a safe and supportive workplace or protecting individuals from any kind of harassment,” the spokesperson said. “Any and all claims to the contrary are ridiculous, and we look forward to proving so in a court of law.”

One of Lizzo’s dancer who are standing with her spoke about how the lawsuit doesn’t make since because none of them were told that they would face a punishment if they didn’t go out with Lizzo when invited. “This claim also makes no sense because plenty of the dancers (myself included) did not go to Bananenbar that night and we still have our job dancing with Lizzo,” Kiara Moore shared.
