Andy Cohen addresses Kandi Burruss shocking exit from RHOA . The WWHL host reflects on Kandi’s incredible run and the legacy she leaves behind.
On Monday’s episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the longtime Real Housewives executive producers addressed Kandi Burruss‘ announcement that she is leaving the Real Housewives of Atlanta after 14 seasons.
“Kandi announced last night on the Grammy red carpet that she’s not gonna be returning to The Real Housewives of Atlanta after an unbelievable run. Unbelievable,” the Watch What Happens Live host said.
Andy then looked back at “how much she not only went through on the show but brought to the show” over the last fourteen years including he former fiancé AJ being killed, her drama with Mama Joyce, meeting her now husband Todd Tucker, opening Old Lady Gang, starting Bedroom Kandi, and so much more.
“The list goes on and on,” Andy said of Kandi’s “incredible run” on RHOA.
“She was always very true to herself. She wanted to be the best. She has been one of my favorite people to work with in my whole told [at Bravo]. I love how thoughtful and smart she is; she is so strategic. She would call me anytime she had a thought about either way the show was being marketed or not marketed or about the way that it was being schedule or she had a lot of really smart opinion and thoughts. She always wanted to know more.”
Andy Cohen the noted that Kandi will “continue being a success in everything she does.” He added that he talked on the phone with Kandi and Todd the other day which is when Kandi told him it was time for her to exit the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
The Real Housewives executive producer admitted that the Atlanta Housewives franchise is “at a crossroads right now and I don’t event want to talk about where we are going with it. Maybe tomorrow. Right now is about celebrating [Kandi].”
He then explained that in 2020, Kandi penned a “thoughtful” letter to Bravo and Truly Original with some “valid and true thoughts about the way that we could be conducting business differently that might be more inclusive, more positive ,[and] more meaningful. It led to great conversation between she and the network and they made them all action items and said, ‘We need to do all of this now.’”
“She impacted not only the show but she impacted the way we do business behind the scenes and that is powerful,” he added, noting that both him and Kandi cried during their phone call the day prior.
In conclusion, Andy noted that the door for Kandi’s return to RHOA is always open and that he hopes she will return to the franchise in a year or two.
