It seems production for The Fantastic Four is officially underway! Secret Invasion star Ben Mendelsohn has thrown his hat in the ring to play Doctor Doom in the MCU reboot.
The Fantastic Four fans got a very special Valentine’s Day gift with the casting announcements for Marvel’s First Family. Though with the villain not yet announced, it seems Secret Invasion star Ben Mendelsohn wants to trade in his Skrull skin for a metal mask, saying that he would give up his eyes and teeth to play Doctor Doom in the MCU.
“I would almost give my eyes and teeth to play Doctor Doom,” Mendelsohn tells GQ. “I think Doctor Doom is the great unread Marvel character that could and should be done. But it is what it is.”
While the actor didn’t have much of a chance to show his range in Secret Invasion, Ben Mendelsohn is a phenomenal actor. However, he has some stiff competition for actors who want to play Doctor Doom in the MCU. Jon Hamm has also expressed interest in playing the villain in The Fantastic Four reboot, and rumors suggest Marvel themselves is eyeing Cillian Murphy for the role. Though with the heroes only just now cast, it’ll likely be some time before fans find out who will play the man behind the iron mask.
What we know about the Fantastic Four movie
