So far officials have shared that explosion happened at a checkpoint on the American side of a U.S.-Canada bridge in Niagara Falls. “This is obviously a very serious situation in Niagara Falls,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in Parliament. “We are taking this extraordinary seriously,” he added.
Meanwhile, sources tell ABC News that investigators have reportedly found some sort of suitcase or briefcase on the scene and now they are treating it as a possible explosive device as a precaution. It was also said that the bomb squad was handling the package.

Reacting to the breaking news, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said, “At my direction, the New York State Police is actively working with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force to monitor all points of entry to New York. I am traveling to Buffalo to meet with law enforcement and emergency responders and will update New Yorkers when more information becomes available.”
An official from the White House said it is also monitoring the situation.
