RHONJ star Melissa Gorga reveals that both her and Teresa Giudice’s families are much “happier” since they stopped communicating more than a year ago.
“I think it took us a while to get to that point to realize that this might be what it is, and we need to accept it. I think, finally, everyone’s breathing,” Melissa Gorga said on Thursday’s episode of her PodcastOne podcast, On Display.
Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice relationship, or lack there of one, came up on her podcast when guest Denise Richards, formerly of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, gave her “a lot of credit” for continuing to film RHONJ with her estranged sister-in-law even though it must have bee “very difficult.”
“Ugh, you have no idea,” Melissa admitted. “It’s definitely been a roller coaster, up and down, and we’re about to air [Season 14] in the spring, and it’s very, very different. Like, we literally don’t even speak to each other.”
Denise then asked Melissa if her husband, Joe Gorga, is on speaking terms with his sister to which the 44-year-old replied, “No, zero.”
Despite Melissa Gorga’s most recent claims, in January she described her estrangement from Teresa as “unfortunate.”
“It is the new normal. I think it just is what it is. I always say it’s unfortunate. I’ll never be, like, happy about that,” the 44-year-old RHONJ star told Entertainment Tonight on Monday, January 8.
The mom of three added, “But we’re all living, and we’re happy, and sometimes things just need to take its course. Right now, that’s definitely how it is.”
The longtime Bravoleb also teased that, unlike past seasons, season 14 of RHONJ won’t primarily focus on the rocky relationship between Melissa and her husband, Joe, and his sister, Teresa.
“The biggest misconception is that it’s gonna be more drama between me and my sister-in-law,” Melissa said. “We don’t even, like, look at each other.”
Season 14 of RHONJ is rumored to be premiering on Bravo in April.
Back in November at BravoCon, Melissa Gorga opened up the upcoming fourteenth season of RHONJ and had quite a bit to say about what fans can expect, especially when it comes to her rollercoaster relationship with Teresa.
“You know what? It’s hard,“ she said at the time. “But I’ve come to a point in my life where, you know, you can try, you can try, you can try, but at some point, you need to protect your peace, and you need to create a boundary, and I think that’s what I did and that’s what we’re doing.”
“I think, you know, when something is really toxic, and it doesn’t work for you, and it makes you uncomfortable, you don’t need to force yourself to be around it,” Melissa continued. “It’s okay to let something go. I am protecting my peace. We should all protect our peace. I think that’s a wonderful thing, and everyone should do that.”
When asked how their lack of communication changed things for season 14 of RHONJ, Melissa said:
“It’s very different from last season… because there’s not a lot of communication, so I think it’s different and better.”
“I think the fans will feel refreshed as well. I mean, weren’t you sick of it?” the 44-year-old asked the crowd before adding, “It’s so much to describe right now, but I think everyone knows where we’re at. Everyone’s reading it. I think it’s, like I said, we’re at a place of peace. I think everyone needs a minute. Everyone needs a break, and there’s just a period on it right now.”
As for Teresa, she told E! News in November that her relationship with Melissa was over for good.
“That chapter’s closed,” the RHONJ OG declared.
