“Barfly is about how music saved the bottom-est of the underworld bottom feeders and made him the un-swattable Lower Lair, uh, barfly that we know and love today,” said Oswalt. “Yeah, the first song is an obvious choice, but each of these gut-blasts of D.I.Y. fury illustrate the rage, exasperation and, yes, sentimentality of the puking punk of Redport. Frank Black’s ‘I Heard Ramona Sing,’ which is about how The Ramones saved him growing up, perfectly closes out our playlist.”
