Eminem takes it back to his Slim Shady era in his new music video for “Tobey” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron.
Released on Monday (July 8), the visual finds the self-proclaimed Rap God dusting off his iconic chainsaw and hockey mask that he wore during his Anger Management Tour in the early 2000s.
In the clip, the three Detroit rappers, dressed as removal men, are duplicated and interect with their doubles in a warehouse and other locations.
When Em begins to rap his closing verse, he sits on the front porch of his childhood home — a nod to the cover of The Marshall Mathers LP — before chopping himself up with a chainsaw, signaling the death of his Slim Shady alter ego.
The video was directed by frequent Eminem collaborator Cole Bennett, who previously helmed the visuals for “Doomsday 2,” “Godzilla” and “GNAT.”
While plugging the video on Instagram, Em wrote in his caption: “Jus 3 guys & a chainsaw whut could go wrong? TOBEY video is OUT now. @bigsean @babytron @jeremydeputat.”
“Tobey” was released as a single last week and serves as the second offering from Eminem’s upcoming 12th album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).
The track itself finds the 51-year-old asserting his status as a G.O.A.T. while disputing his No. 5 ranking on Billboard and VIBE‘s Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time list.

“Ain’t feelin’ your top five favorite rappers/ So I know they ’bout to be pissed at me/ But this, to me, is a mystery/ How rappers I’ve already ripped could be/ Higher up on a list than me/ Yet here I sit on your list though at five (Hm), which still was fine/ But just know inside, to me, that shit’s hilarious,” he spits.
The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) is set to be released on Friday (July 12) via Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records.
A leaked tracklist surfaced over the weekend, revealing features from J. Cole, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Black Thought, JID, Tech N9ne and Royce Da 5’9″, among others, although its authenticity has yet to be verified.
The album will serve as the follow-up to Music to Be Murdered By, which was released in 2020.
