Bill Belichick gives a special shout-out to his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, in his new book, which has already stirred controversy and conversation before its publication.
Belichick, 73 calls Hudson, 24, his “idea mill and creative muse” in The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football, according to an advanced copy of the book viewed by The Athletic. The five-word description is reportedly the only mention of Hudson in the book.
The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football will officially be released on Tuesday, May 6.
While Hudson gets a brief mention, Belichick’s book reportedly does not include references to some of the scandalous parts of the coach’s past, including Deflategate or the Aaron Hernandez murder trial. Robert Kraft, the owner of the New England Patriots — where Belichick coached for 24 seasons and won 6 Super Bowls — is not mentioned by name anywhere in the book.

In January 2024, Belichick and the Patriots parted ways after two consecutive losing seasons.
Belichick and Hudson’s relationship was addressed during an interview the former New England Patriots head coach granted to CBS Sunday Morning, pegged to the book, last month.
During a conversation with journalist Tony Dokoupil, Belichick was asked how he and Hudson met. Hudson, who was sitting off camera, interjected and said, “We’re not talking about this.”
Belichick defended Hudson, who he met on a flight in 2021, in a statement released through the University of North Carolina, on Wednesday, April 30.
“I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced, and I repeatedly expressed to the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers that I preferred to keep that conversation centered on the book,” Belichick said. “After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion.”
CBS responded with a statement of their own, saying their interview with Belichick was not presented with any restrictions.
“There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation,” a CBS spokesperson said on Wednesday. “This was confirmed repeatedly with his publisher before the interview took place and after it was completed.”
Despite his public backing of Hudson, Belichick — who was hired as the new head football coach at North Carolina in December 2024 — has reportedly sought some assistance in righting the ship.
Belichick has been talking to former Chicago Bears vice president of communications Brandon Faber “in the hopes of boosting his book tour and/or the overall interests of the North Carolina football program,” according to NBC Sports.
“The potential assignment encompasses working directly for North Carolina and/or assisting Belichick with non-UNC matters,” the outlet reported.
