Crystal Kung Minkoff revealed if she thinks Avi Gabay offered gossip about Sutton Stracke – and what she believes was “cut” from the new season of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The star also hinted that she “protected a lot of people” on the show.
In a recent episode, newbie Amanda Frances claimed Sutton’s ex-assistant Avi told a friend that he was itching to “spill all the real dirt on Sutton.” But Sutton and her costars (including former nemesis Erika Jayne) didn’t seem to believe Amanda. As of now, Sutton and Avi’s falling out remains a mystery.
“Do you think there’s no way [Avi] referenced drama between him and Sutton?” asked Nick Viall on The Viall Files.
“No,” answered Crystal. “I know Avi. He’s a really good person, and they had a very, very strong relationship — him and Sutton — and unfortunately [their friendship] ended … but he would not do that. And I think when Amanda did that, that was like the nail in the coffin for the cast.”
“They want you to bring up s**t that you know,” she continued. “Like, ‘get off my back, get it onto you.’ But [the cast] knew that that was fake, and no one respects that. No one respects fake s**t like that. I wouldn’t either. I would be like, what are you doing?”
Crystal hinted that castmates likely had a similar reaction – but it was “cut.”
“Because that’s fourth wall stuff,” she said. “[But] I bet you they said that. Like, ‘dude, don’t do that. Like, that’s not cool.’ … I’m sure they said you’re just doing this for the show. … If you have Erika defending Sutton … you just lost the girls, [but] not as a cast member, as like someone who’s actually going to try to engage with you. I would be like, I don’t want you around if you’re just going to bring up bulls**t.”
Later on, Crystal was asked if the castmates’ inability to say certain things impedes the show.
“I see both sides,” she answered. “[I] wasn’t like the perfect housewife [because] I’m very protective of my family. And I’m protective of my life because I know once the show’s over, as it is, I go back to my life. This is fleeting. It’s fleeting for everybody, whether you’re on it for one year or 15 years. And so like, if I’m in a fight with [my husband], they’re going to run with that. And forever, my children will watch that.”
“People say, ‘you signed up for this, like show it all,’” she went on. “[But] I see both sides … When you’re in it — yeah, it’s challenging … I know I protected a lot of people on that show [because] I don’t feel like it’s right for me to say their story.”
