Brooke Hogan has been very open about her relationship with her father, Hulk Hogan, following his July 2025 death, and in a recent interview, the former reality star shared more insight into what caused their years-long estrangement.
As the one-year anniversary of her father’s death nears this summer, Brooke Hogan revealed the fractured nature of their relationship that led to a complete separation of the once close father-daughter duo.
Brooke Hogan Says She ‘Had To Take A Break’ From Late Father Hulk Hogan Prior To His Death
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Brooke Hogan opened up about how Hulk Hogan’s inner circle led her to decide to distance herself from her father for two years before his death.
“He said, ‘You go this way, I go that way,’” she told the outlet. “That hurt. I could see what was happening with him with the people around him. I could also see his potential and see how life could be. And he just wasn’t there. I was pregnant with my twins. I was newly married. I just had to take a break.”
The married mother of two continued, “I don’t know if we would have ever reconnected, even if he were alive, because of the mindset he was in. He would have had to have a change of mindset and a change of company. I don’t know if he was there. I don’t know if he was willing to do that.”
Hogan Now Says That Despite Their Issues, She Is Glad Her Father Is No Longer Suffering
She shared with Us Weekly that Hulk Hogan was in severe pain prior to his death, and that she is at least happy that he is no longer suffering.
“I’m glad he’s out of pain. I know he was in a lot of pain,” the singer said of her wrestling legend father. “In a weird way, I feel like I have a better relationship with him now. I find myself just talking to him and saying all the things I wish I could have said.”
“He was kind of tough. It was hard to have tender moments with him because he just didn’t want to talk about it,” she said.
She Previously Released A Song About Her Father In March 2026
On March 31, Brooke Hogan released a new song called “Wanna Go Back,” which captures the loss of losing her father.
A clip of the song’s mournful lyrics was posted on Instagram.
“I don’t wanna go back, ’cause you were my world, and I was your girl,” she sings. “Daddy, you lying there made a fool out of me…what you did to me.”
Brooke Hogan Was Left Out Of Hulk Hogan’s Will At Her Request
In September 2025, two months after Hulk Hogan’s death, Brooke Hogan revealed that although she was left out of his will and cut off from his multi-million-dollar estate, it was at her request.
“It’s what I asked for, I stand by it with no regrets. My dad knows I’m a hard worker, and I have been surviving without his money for a long, long time,” she said at the time.
However, she did express her concern for ensuring her father’s estate, intellectual property, and trademarks are handled responsibly. Per TMZ, her focus has never been on financial gain, but on wanting more of her father’s “time, honesty, and love.”
Hogan Was Also Absent From Her Father’s Funeral
In a lengthy Instagram post, Brooke Hogan explained her decision not to attend her father’s funeral, noting that Hulk Hogan “hated the morbidity of funerals,” and she was sure he did not want one.
“My Dearest Daddy, You were my everything, and I will always be your girl,” her message read. “I am PROUD to be your daughter—for all the love, light, and goodness you brought into this world. Thank you for choosing me in this lifetime, and for loving me so deeply.”
“Our bond is eternal. That truth brings me comfort and hope, even in your absence. I love you more than all the stars in the sky, 4LifeAfterLife. Forever yours, Brooke,” she added.
She also shared that she appreciated the events and celebrations organized to honor him, but she chose to do so privately.
