Underrated Team-Up Superhero Series Is Leaving Netflix Next Month

There’s been no shortage of brutal fights and high-stakes action in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, but it turns out some of the craziest moments never made it to the screen. According to Charlie Cox, that’s not sitting well with him.

While chatting with directors Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson on the Daredevil: Born Again Official Podcast, Cox opened up about a couple of sequences he poured serious time and effort into, only to see them barely used or completely cut.

“I do have one gripe. The amount of hours I spent learning that discipline with the dummy. That did not make it into our show very much. It did a little. But relatively, the amount of time I spent learning it. Not enough.”

He’s referring to the Season 2 premiere moment where Matt Murdock sharpens his skills on a martial arts dummy while Karen Page looks on. It’s a quick scene, but Cox says there was supposed to be a lot more of that training woven into the show.

If anything, it makes you wonder if the tighter episode count is limiting moments like this. The original Daredevil series had more room to breathe with its longer seasons, and that extra space gave fans more character-driven training and fight development.

But the bigger loss might be a stunt that sounds absolutely insane. Cox added: “I also seem to remember that I very bravely threw myself off a 20-foot scaffolding headfirst backwards. That is also not in the show.”

Cox apparently hurled himself backward off a 20-foot structure for a sequence that never saw the light of day. The moment was meant to introduce Daredevil’s sleek new black suit, with the hero plunging into the darkness of the city. Cox even admitted he “was terrified.”

There’s no official explanation for why it got cut. Benson tried to lighten the mood by pointing out that the crew got to witness the stunt in person, but Cox had the perfect response:

“I need the audience appreciation, otherwise it counts for nothing.”

Fair point. Even without those missing moments, Matt Murdock hasn’t exactly been taking it easy this season. The action has been relentless, and it sounds like things are about to escalate even more in the finale.

Episode 8, titled “The Southern Cross”, is set to push Daredevil to his limits as he fights to protect Karen and all of New York from Mayor Wilson Fisk’s grip.
