Michael B. Jordan had a brilliant year in 2025, as he dived deep into the roles of Smoke and Stack in Ryan Coogler’s acclaimed Sinners. The actor disappeared completely into the role and felt the emotional reverberance of the film in all its glory as he admitted to crying during the process and the viewing. The critically acclaimed actor also revealed which TV show made him cry.

Michael B. Jordan talks about his reaction to My Hero Academia

Michael B. Jordan, who received widespread acclaim for his dual role in Sinners, recently sat down for an interview with W Magazine, where he discussed his film in detail. While going over many aspects of the Ryan Coogler film, Jordan also answered a question about what film made him cry. In doing so, the actor also revealed the series that made him cry.

“I cried during Sinners. I also cried during the making of the film. Also, Armageddon gets me every time. I dropped tears in Armageddon big-time,” revealed the MCU star. He proceeded to add, “I had a really good cry watching the last season of the anime My Hero Academia, when Bakugo, a character from the first season, has this emotional moment where he finally gets recognized by one of his mentors and idols. It was beautiful.”

In the same interview, the Creed actor spoke about many other aspects of Sinners, including which among Smoke and Stack he resonated more with in the film. The actor added about this, “That’s tough. Stack is probably closer to me, while Smoke is more of a departure from myself. But there’s something about Smoke. I’m not a father, but the idea that he loves his family and taking care of everyone, and making sure everybody is safe, that’s something I can identify with.”

Sinners went on to become one of the biggest hits of 2025, earning $368 million and garnering universal critical acclaim.
