I absolutely loved this episode of Sullivan’s Crossing. The drama seemed to really ramp up in this episode. The top of the episode was a perfect follow on from last episode and we finally got to hear what really happened between Maggie and Liam or at least her version of it. Evidently by the end of the episode, everything was clearly not as it seemed.
It is so lovely to watch Maggie and Cal be each other’s solace and rest place, despite all the outside noise going on and the difficulties they are facing they can still come back together and be a strong couple. It was quite an emotional watch when Maggie was explaining her side of the story but I think it was beautifully done to be conveyed in the way it was. The scene could definitely end with Cal being annoyed at how it still affected her, given the way she had just lied to him but instead he was absolutely there for her.
I can’t work out if Liam is actively hoping that if he tells Maggie what really happened that it makes her want him back or if he just needs to get it off his chest before he signs the divorce papers. Although I think it will be a while before we see him sign his name on the dotted line given how happy he was to avoid the papers and play back gammon with Frank.
Frank and Edna were such a great pair in this episode, they are always good but I adored being able to see them both do things that they were passionate about. The pair of them are so incredibly nurturing that even through the screen you feel the warmth that they portray. It is such a shame that they never had children because both of them would be amazing, but I guess in a way that’s what makes them so special. They just automatically nurture everyone in their midst.
I was definitely picking up on some romantic vibes between Amir and Syd. Despite them not always seeing eye to eye, you can tell that there are underlying feelings there. I am looking forward to seeing how their dynamic works whilst Rob is away.
The Ben and Tracy storyline is incredibly engaging because not only does it focus on two new characters but it also loops back into some of the core characters in a personal way. They have been very quickly welcomed into the Crossing family and I don’t think they will be leaving anytime soon.
I think it’s also a great way of having Cal deal with his past too, he’s been on a journey and has definitely healed but I do think that him being able to be a witness to this dynamic really will help him more. I hope we get to see more of Sedona this season, it’s always great to see Cal’s relationship with his siblings.
The dynamic between Liam and Cal in this episode was so intense, they have never really been good with each other but this episode was the first time we have seen Cal be angry about the situation. Granted it was the most calm angry state I’ve seen someone be in but I think that is what made it so believable. The person he loves dearly was hurt and that was his time to make sure it didn’t happen again, but the calmness whilst ripping into Liam was definitely what made it cut so deep for Liam. I also was clearly the catalyst for Liam wanting to make sure Maggie knew the full picture.
Maggie and Quincy’s working relationship was always going to be complicated right from the jump but I was not expecting Maggie to get that much backlash just for wanting to run a few extra tests. Based on how this episode ended clearly Quincy should have listened to Maggie’s gut instinct. Hopefully next episode he will be more reciprocative of her suggestions.
I can’t wait to see how these storylines play out over the course of the season, there is definitely going to be a lot more drama to come and I am absolutely here for it!
