Summary

Sheila Mangubat, star of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, owns a sari-sari store in the Philippines, which is a convenience store that sells assorted goods. Sari-sari stores are typically family-owned and operated, serving as a source of income for the family. They offer affordable and convenient shopping options. Sheila named her store “Sheila and David’s Sari-Sari Store” and sells items like chips and coffee. Despite facing challenges, she is determined to make her business successful.

90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star Sheila Mangubat is the proud owner of a sari-sari store in the Philippines. Sheila, a 31-year-old single mom, was living in the most dire of conditions in Cebu when she met David Dangerfield from Omaha, Nebraska, on Facebook. David, 41, was born deaf, while Sheila had lost her hearing as a child due to a tragic accident. Sheila was embarrassed to tell David about how she lived back home but needed help but asked him for money after she lost her sales job during the pandemic.

When Sheila’s mom, Ma Remedios, died after falling down a flight of stairs in her home, she decided to get her house fixed. It had been badly damaged due to a typhoon and a fire and needed USD 1,725.15 to fix it. David wanted Sheila to be self-sufficient and denied helping her with the money. David was able to reach a compromise with Sheila by sending her additional funds if she could find a job so they could both contribute to the house repairs. Sheila has made David and their fans proud by launching her own business.

What Is A Sari-Sari Store In The Philippines?

Sari-sari stores are convenience stores in the Philippines. They can be either family-owned or privately run within the owner’s residence. In Tagalog, the word sari-sari means “variety.” It’s an assorted goods store or a mini market that sells necessities. Primer notes that this kind of store caters to members of the community. They are typically owned and operated by the mother of the family. Her purpose is to support the family’s income, much like what’s happening in Sheila’s case. Sari-sari stores allow customers to shop “per piece” instead of buying an entire packet of a particular item, which makes them more affordable and convenient than regular convenience stores.

What Is Sheila’s Store Name?

Sheila revealed she’d opened a sari-sari store during the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 6 Tell All Part 2. She called it a “small store.” Sheila said the name of the store was special to her, calling it, “Sheila and David’s Sari-Sari Store.” Sheila has been posting about her sari-sari store on her Instagram for a long time. In her July 29, 2023, post, Sheila shared selfies from inside her store to tell her fans she was sick with vertigo. “Even if I’m sick. I’m still here in my own small shop to get back the investment. Need to work,” she wrote.

What Does Sheila Sell In Her Sari-Sari Store?

When 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Tell All host Shaun Robinson asked Sheila about what she sells in the shop, Sheila replied, “Just like chips and coffee.” Essentially, a sari-sari store could sell basic items such as instant noodles, canned food, coffee, soda, and other daily necessities. Candy, chips, and beer are also available in these stores. They can also be helpful when one wants to top up their prepaid mobile balance. Stores like Sheila’s usually get regular customers, and hopefully, the former saleswoman can make it profitable.

90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on TLC.
