Seems like everyone’s having a great weekend without Amanda on this episode of Summer House. After West and Ciara become “best friends” again, the entire house mood lifts. Carl’s soft opening for Soft Bar brings the whole group back together again and some familiar faces resurface. But when Amanda finds out Ciara and West are going on a double-date with Ben and Sabrina, she worries that Ciara may not be able to handle just a friendship…
Mia says goodbye to Scott and the crew heads out to their boat day/meet back up with Ciara and West. No one can believe that Ciara and West are actually taking a private moment to address their issues and Kyle, the “helpless romantic” (LOL), wonders if Ciara will acknowledge her lingering feelings towards West.
Jesse muses that perhaps West and Ciara will be hand in hand welcoming them at the dock, and there they are, quite literally, greeting the group doing exactly what Jesse just said out loud. Once they board the boat, Carl makes some side comments to Jesse about his investment towards his Soft Bar and it’s clear his underlying issues with Kyle are still lingering.
Ciara explains to Mia that she feels like West is her person and it’s hard to ignore those feelings. Ciara is not usually very warm and fuzzy, but making up with West proves she is being less rigid. Everyone seems to be having a good time, except for KJ who looks like he’s gonna barf at any moment.
When Amanda calls Kyle’s phone, she immediately asks for Ciara (weird) and her jealousy is showing when she reacts to West referring to his time as “the best night of his life” – the only night Amanda is not there.
Every relationship is different. Take for instance Dara and KJ’s whirlwind romance. Dara worries that KJ might start to get cold feet about making it official as Mia warns of their age difference. It doesn’t seem to matter much to them- they still have fun together!
Versus Kyle and Amanda…Kyle is vocalizing how much more fun he is having without his wife, which is weird. He feels like being himself irritates Amanda, but Jesse points out that they ARE different people who just need to accept each other. Kyle asks to not talk about the situation any further, so he can continue to have a fun weekend.
Over a FaceTime call, Sabrina gets the lowdown about West and Ciara’s make-up. As she bed-bugs with Kyle and Ben, Ciara explains to Sabrina that she is now back to being best friends with West. Sabrina spills the beans when she tells Ciara that West has a crush on her…this was something Ben told Sabrina in confidence, now the cat’s out of the bag, and Ciara is all giddy again.
At dinner, West explains that his summer just began, hinting at the fresh start with Ciara. Carl shares that Soft Bar is opening very, very soon and he talks about how “some” people at the table have been supportive with their wallets. This is quite a dig towards Kyle, who feels aggravated that Carl is not communicating his issues directly with him.
At the end of the night, Kyle texts Amanda on THE saddest text thread and not shockingly, Amanda does not respond, because apparently, she never does. The only reaction Kyle saw from Amanda while she was home in the city was when West posted that he had the best night ever in the group chat. NOW Amanda has FOMO?!
Ciara wonders if Jesse feels settled now that “mom and dad” (aka West and Ciara-gag) are getting along again. Kyle seems so much happier since not having Amanda at the house. Jesse points out that Kyle certainly did not seem upset that Amanda was not there, but Kyle now prefers to sweep their issues under the rug. Jesse then tells Ciara and Mia that Kyle and Amanda aren’t having sex…in maybe years…and messy Jesse outs Carl for that information. It seems like Kyle and Amanda never thought about how they would evolve- are they even compatible?
It’s back to the weekly grind in the city. Ciara and KJ get some grills and Bailey and Levi talk about the two year anniversary of Bailey’s show It Girl. The week progresses and Ciara and Amanda get together to chat about the past weekend.
Ciara points out that Amanda keeps missing big weekends, but Amanda calls it “necessary” to be away from Kyle. Amanda feels like she is falling into a depression again, but shares that she did go to couple’s counseling. For Amanda, it felt good to air her frustrations with Kyle and her traumas come from pre-wedding, whereas everything Kyle is talking about is post-wedding.
Having time apart is probably good for Kyle and Amanda considering what the public is seeing about their marriage. Amanda thinks that Kyle would never go for a separation, yet he had the time of his life without her last weekend…?
It’s the Soft Bar soft launch of Carl’s nonalcoholic bar. He is beyond proud to be showing everyone exactly what he has been working on. Ben and Sabrina attend the event together and we learn that they, too, are moving incredibly fast (Why are KJ and Dara getting all the heat?). They are going to Australia for Christmas so Sabrina can meet his family. Sooo, Ben’s a married man now.
Everyone is there- Andrea, Luke, Danielle. Is this the intro crossover to the new show coming out?! Carl’s mom makes her appearance and promises West she will only say good things to Lindsay.
Speaking of West, Sabrina has planned a double date with West and Ciara. This seems a little rushed-not everyone is on Ben and Sabrina’s timeline!!
Kyle is bummed to see Soft Bar does not have any Lover Boy non-alcoholic drinks on the menu, especially because they discussed this at great length. This is adding to the tension between Carl and Kyle.
Lindsay attends because Carl is “actually doing something that deserves” her attention. She brings him a teddy bear, since she knows Carl loves hugging, and they have a lovely conversation considering their history.
When Carl makes his speech, he discusses breaking family trauma and the inspiration for the bar. He isn’t sure that Soft Bar would exist if his brother didn’t pass away, as his passing was Carl’s wake up call to get his life back on track.
Lindsay is trying her best to keep her distance from Carl’s mom, but she seeks Lindsay out through the crowd. She initially compliments Lindsay on how great she looks and asks for a hug (must run in the family). Lindsay looks like she wants to crawl out of her skin during this discussion, even though his mom is being nothing but nice.
When Lindsay realizes Danielle is there, she talks to Kyle about how brutal Danielle’s confessionals were. Lindsay explains she has limited time to do anything extra, so she’s not interested in being friends with anyone that feels like they need to compete with her. Kyle takes on the role of mediator and he greets Danielle. Danielle explains that Lindsay was upset about things that were said with the whole Carl situation. Danielle makes no effort to catch Lindsay before she leaves, leaving their issues unresolved.
Later, Jesse chats with Amanda and tells her that West and Ciara are hanging out after the event. Amanda looks aghast and reminds Jesse that going for double-date drinks is not something that friends do. She claims that this make-up went from “zero to one hundred” and that “West has to be cautious because I don’t think she [Ciara] can handle just a friendship” with him…
